Are all you people nuts? I have owned dogs all my life and consider them "a part of the family", but I would not want money, time or space wasted on an animal aka pet in an evacuation.

If someone is such a nut job as not to leave a burning house because Snowball the cat is in there, do you expect to send a fireman or waste the time to retrieve the cat. The same would hold true for an evacuation.

How about people with allergies??? Will they need to be put on a seperate buses because great aunt Milly has boots the dog with her. Will FEMA not get to waste taxpayer money buying all assortments of animal cages to transport the pets.

People in this country really have lost all perspective on the value of human life, and this is another example.

The rule for shelters that have pet provisions are simple.

ALL pets must be caged. YOU must bring enough pet food for three days. No food will be provided. There will be no place to exercise the dog, cat or fish. It is a shelter not a vactation resort.

If you have thee dogs then you bring three portable kennels to let the dogs stay contained.

This only points out NO incompetence in preparation that they did not already have this.

This is not a federal issue, this is a local gov COMPETENCE ISSUE.

People in this country really have lost all perspective on the value of human life, and this is another example.

Yes they have, when they refuse to recognize the role pets play in some people's lives. Seniors, children, and me, for instance, value pets as members of the family and would stay behind and die rather than leave any member of the family behind.

If the respective levels of government don't want to deal with that reality, they will continue to encounter people who will not evacuate, even when ordered to.

Now, those people (like me) could be left to die, and not be rescued, since I refused to leave in the first place.

But I would never vote for a politician who would do that, and I suspect there are millions of others like me.

So, it's likely this legislation is going to pass, overwhelmingly.

Bob, we're dealing with emotions here, not hardcore facts of reality. Snoball deserves the front seat of the Evac. bus.
