I don't know what these "military exercises" are but I hope they aren't on the scale of the China-Russian exercises.
In any case, Russia has has been supplying China with major weapon systems. They are helping them build a blue-water navy and now China is starting to bother their neighbors. We should not be pretending we are buddy-buddy with the Russians and the very last thing we should be doing is nurturing the Russian aerospace industry for crying out loud.
True, Russia has sold them a blue water navy (still two decades behind ours) while rearming itself, S.Korea, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Khazakstan for a ground war with China and offerring subs to Taiwan. Further, they had exercises with us, Britian, Japan and S.Korea near the Yellow Sea last year. They have no choice but to play nice with the 1,000 lb dragon while the bear and every other critter in the neighborhood sharpens its claws.
