Just talked to my niece in Tomball, north of Houston, they're staying put. I quizzed her on her preparations...sounds like she's got everything under control. She was here in Mobile when Katrina hit so, she has some experience. She said that Tomball was 90 miles inland, I don't think it's that far inland. Anyone else have an opinion?
wind, tree damage, extended (1-2) wks of power outage.
Inland winds...what is the status of trees surrounding the home?
Tomball is approx 35 mi NW of Houston. Should not be a huge surge risk, but the wind is going to be fierce.
90 miles is about right for tomball, she should be ok except for the threat of tornados. We are 70 miles inland and we are staying, got our generator today.
I'd call it 50 miles to Baytown on the bay; perhaps 75 miles or so to the Gulf at Galveston Island. She's shading things a bit.
