Johnb838 Reporting for duty, just south of Lakewood Church. Did not flood during Allison, a bit concerned about the wind, but don't have any large trees around, going to hang in there. Not really any way out until the coastal people get clear anyway.

I'm in far west Houston. I'm not staying. I think the local weather guys have scared the hell out of me. Along with some internet weather guys. I'm leaving sometime on Thursday probably late. I'm heading to Aggie Land...College Station, TX.
One of my best friends lives in a wonderful home in Palacios, TX. If the track holds Rita will go right over her home. I called her at 5AM this morning and told her and her family to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. So we're meeting up in College Station. Her son goes to A & M and has a large apartment there. That's where I'll be. If I can get online at Stephens apartment I'll be checking it.

Our family and three cars are headed to Austin. As a side note, this seemed like the perfect time to part with our really old and feeble dog. It just wasn't worth figuring out what to do with her.

N. Houston Roslyn & Gulfbank area. We are expecting to be 'flooded-in', but shouldn't see any water inside the house.
We hope...
We survived the 2001 flood unscathed -not even a puddle in the street- but we had neighbors a couple streets over who had water over their window sills.

We are packing to leave tomorrow early am for north LA DEPENDING on that turn Rita is supposed to make.
Very large oak and pecan trees on east side of our house - not good. We may be in that northeast quadrant. And our schools are canceled for the rest of the week.

I think we are staying. Loaded up with water, food, batteries and things for the little ones to do with no television or power. Should be ok downstairs, not too many windows. Off of Chimney Rock between Memorial and Woodway. Good luck and stay safe!

Checking in from Sugar Land, about a mile from hwy 59. Haven't decided if were going to leave home yet. Might stay in town with my sister's family. She's only about a couple of miles away, but her home is built like a fortress -- masonry walls over 1 ft. thick.

Plan to stay in Kingwood. Since this area is HIGHLY Republican, we expect Rove/Bush to steer the Hurricane selectively through Kingwood.
However, I do expect it to take out my next door neighbor who is the Chairperson of the Kingwood Democrats organization. Ain't it great to have friend in HIGH places!

I'm at work (downtown Houston) right now, and will be heading home at the regular time.
If we stay, we're where my tagline says.
If we go, we'll head for Brenham.
