If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
Stay in touch as long as you can, please.
And don't forget to find this thread and check back in "on the other side."
Good luck! (And don't be stupid!)
You must be right around the corner from me! We're at Wilcrest and Briar Forest, more or less.
Oh, you KNOW the cows will be protected!
Husband, son and myself are in Sugar Land. First Colony -Fort Bend County.
Daughter is in west Memorial area and will be on her way to Dallas with her 3 small daughters in the morning.
Appreciate all the prayers being said.
Why are you staying?
My dad said he was worried about leaving the house, and I said that frankly I couldn't imagine a whole lot of looting going on in Quail freakin' Valley.
I know I am going to hate myself for asking this, but "dogs shaved?"
I was about ready to book them at the National Park Lodge in Big Bend, but found something a ways SW of Corpus that is a bit close but should be OK. The mayor's family is staying there as well, so they should get good news about how things are back home.
And, upon finding that he didn't face a 16 hour drive tomorrow, my dad went and took a nap.
I asked my mom why the heck he wasn't getting ready earlier. She said he always expects the best to happen.
I told her we just found the logical candidate to be the next mayor of New Orleans. After all, Texas residency doesn't seem to disqualify one from the job...
seriously, I feel for you. I still miss my super-pooch.
What area of Sugar Land? If worse comes to worse, we can all hook up together.
I just can't imagine what a hellhole this will be after the storm. It's 98 degrees right now and that's how hot the house will be after we lose power. Unfortunately, I expect it will have new ventilation holes and plenty of places for mosquitoes to enter.
Scared me for a minute there!!
You want to come ride it out with us?
Bad, I and my wife are evacing.
I just do that for the entertainment value!!
;<)
I think I can prevent some minor flooding if I'm here and start the drying out two days earlier if I got a foot or two which frankly I believe to be the max given we have never flooded and the lakes and rivers are all down.
I live in Longview. Any other reports about East Texas other than Palestine?
I just don't understand it; my sister lived down at Morehead City when one was headed straight for her -- and she lived ON THE BEACH; I pointed out to her that NC hung "out there" in the Atlantic and that she could just open her front door and let it roar right out the back door, and still she lingered.
My daddy and I decided it was the falling barometer effecting their brains.
BTW, my niece in Wilmington was in lockdown for the hosptial in case of emergencies during storms.....and she's a speech pathologist. Go figure.
Now a cat. 5
I pray for all of your family's safety.

Alkhin Reporting, she and her family will be staying in their home in the Richmond/Katy area.
