If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
My sister and some of her family went to Tyler from Winnie. She said they were going to get a lot of flooding way up there.
Hey - we left home around midnight last night for central LA. The evac up 146 to Livingston moved well for the most part. Course it was the middle of the night. I have nothing but praise for the LE that waved us through each small town. We cut out of the convoy @ Livingston to go east - my self-made evacuation route. This took us across Indian Reservation and over the state line into Leesville.
So here we sit @ relative's house - kids are in the pool and someone said Rita is taking a northernly turn for LA. Is this so? Anyone know? We don't have cable here and internet is dial up.
Now that she's shifted east, think Mr. X and I are staying . . . will keep everyone posted!
Hey Humid, Please stay safe!!
If you're in Leesville, you're in my town. We live in the rural outskirts of town.
Our Mayor was just on the radio. He said if the information he has stays the same, we're in for the worse storm in our towns history. They are going to have a meeting at 2:00 with all the officials in town for last minute brain storming. Listen to radio station----105, fm. That's a local station for here in Leesville. They keep having updates till we lose power.
So I'll be here riding out the storm, thank god it's moving more NE now. I'll update later as things begin to change.
Sea
Sorry to interupt yer call there Dragon!
Rika, let me know and we will thaw an extra steak.
Say a prayer for my son in law...He just flew in from out of state and ran out of gas trying to get home from the airport..The out of gas signs are everywhere at stations..The freeways and feeder roads are a parking lot..contra flows are FINALLY getting established.
The people stuck in hot cars under mandatory evacuation need our prayers..Hopefully the traffic will clear and emergency tanker trucks can get through to help out the people in danger....We are not under mandatory..I think we must stay put.
I had to plug my computer back in..and take the plastic bag off the keyboard..We were ready to go...I just stuck a lot of bottles of water in the freezer in case we stay.
Not a problem................
Holy Crow!
At least it looks like we won't get flattened.
Too much.
Thanks Eaker, I will give a call tomorrow.
Made it home, and damn it, I deserve this drink!
:-)
I have now learned that my tolerance level for no movement, is four hours. (rme)
Holy smokes that was a nightmare, cars were dying right and left and they just left them there so that everyone else had to drive around them.
Unreal.
Talked to her a bit ago on my way home....they are still about 15 miles from Huntsville....left Pasedena about 9pm last night...70 miles and 3/4 of tank of gas in that entire time.
She did say emergency vehicles and tow trucks were out in force and were not leaving people stranded.
She is going to call later to update me on her schedule and I will certainly pass along your message.
Take care and be safe!
I think you are better off staying put.
We'll get whacked for sure, but we've been whacked before.
The thing to hope for now is no power disruption!
Gotcher windows taped up?
Well let's hope not too much......
Next on my to do list. Taking a quick break.
You too, sweetie! This is gonna be a toad strangler! My daughter and I were going to flee to Tyler but daughter just called to say she can't find any gasoline and the streets are still packed so heavily that she can't even make it as far as my house. Nobody's moving unless they go SOUTH. We are stuck here. Ekkkkk.
Hugs!
My pets will STAY with me as long as I have breath to breathe, and you can take that to the bank! Not sure if you caught Prime Time Live the other night when they had the segment about people rescuing pets from N.O. area... I was bawling! What a heart breaker to see those forlorn dogs and cats - and for some it was too late.
Let us know ASAP when it's over and you are ok. Does someone have your phone number here?
