If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
The Housing thread has an offer of two hotel rooms in Austin.
((((sigh))))
Well, sister-in-law #1 finally showed up...
So she and Mom and the niece and nephew are on their way to Lake Charles....
but now sister-in-law #2 is squawking about wanting to stay anyway, even though she doesn't have to work.
LOL!!! Hopefully my brother can talk some sense into her head tomorrow, after she's had a chance to rest and think about it.
It's ALWAYS something... isn't it???
Thanks for the info. We are very blessed to have many friends who offered their homes to us and our pups, should we decide to evacuate.
However, the gas stations around here are out of gas and the highways are bogged down. Don't want to get stuck on the highway. Yikes, this is bad! God Bless and protect Texas and other affected areas....
You take care and stay safe.
Just A Reader checking in. West of Houston, just north of Fulshear. Leaving for Valley Mills Thursday night. Howlin what happened to onyx?
Port Arthur/Port Neches area here. Expecting 100mph winds here, waiting to find out if DuPont where dad works is letting him leave, to see if we're going with or without him.
Will leave tomorrow for Deridder, Louisiana. Lot of family in Orange County, some staying, some leaving.
Neighbors on either side of us staying.
We are here in Lufkin, Texas. We have 9 family members who have come up here from Baytown. Hopin the storm takes a sudden southerly turn and returns out into the Atlantic, but that is not likely. Joe Bastardi is incredibly accurate and seems to believe the storm will come in around Galveston or 30 miles to the south. Houston may have terrible problems along with Kehma, Laport,BAytown, Pasadena, and the other areas. My nephew is a Baytown police officer and has to stay. We are concerned about him. Good luck to you and yours.
Hey sheild...I left at 2pm and I am at a shelter here in College Station...my 2 dogs are at the arena by A&M...hell they have have goats, sheep, pigs and horses in there too. They will keep up to 1000 animals in there.
I am at the shelter at 1st methodist by the police station at Texas and 28th street.
Nice bathrooms each has one shower so it can't be that bad...(at least not superdome nightmarish)
My cot is againt the wall so I have access to an electric outlet...we were the third and fourth bed filled so had the luxuary of picking our cots stategically...shelter has only have about 85 spaces left...so far we only have about 15 people here total.
I am getting a bit worried since the locals here are leaving for Tulsa...it is said that the storm will still be very violent when it hits here...i think maybe I didn't go far enough north and I have confirmed no hotels until you cross into Oklahoma or if you got to Wichita Falls...
Good luck to all who are planning to stick around in Houston after this mess with no electricity, no water sewer or AIR CONDITIONING especially since the last week of damn near 100 degree temps.
My prayers to all who call the Gulf Coast of Texas home...
stayin right here in NW Houston.
No hotels or motels with availble rooms in Lufkin or Nacodoches.
I think Katy is a very vulnerable area if Joe Bastardi is correct.
Please keep us informed, will you?
And be sure to check back in and soon as you can.
And do you mean 9 EXTRA people in the house? Oh brother!
Exactly the reasons I left...the heat, humidity and mosquitoes...and with a "holey" house there will be plenty of that.
Please note that my brother in law just came in to Lufkin on Hwy 146 then Hwy 59 from Conroe to Lufkin. This is normally a 2 hour drive. It took him 8 and 1/2 hours. My brother is in route now and it looks like it will take him even longer.
GRRRR has some hotels in Austin that he's going to cancel tomorrow morning.
I just found out that I have to work this weekend. It stinks, but I have to risk my life to defent an empty building. Oh well. Where there is a dollar to be made, there is a way!!!
I'm here. Took a little break after watching that Jet Blue plane land.
My daughter thinks Rita is heading west --- she predicts Corpus and maybe even more to the south, not Houston or Galveston. She could see that Ivan was coming at her before the Cayman's notified everyone.
Are you getting hazard pay? I'd sure ask for it!
