If you are in the path of this storm, please sign in here, so that the rest of us can keep track of our "displaced" friends and family.
And when you return, remember to sign in, as we will be looking for you!
If you're talking about hotels, I called several here in Lufkin yesterday and none had vacancies for this weekend. I would assume the same is true for Nacogdoches.
If you're talking weather, our weather guy has said we can expect winds of 45MPH or more, depending on where Rita goes. And of course the whole tornado/thunderstorm thing and flash floods.
***Hey! I'll start working on the ice cream immediately! I'm nowhere near Texas, but just to be on the safe side . . . .
They're forecasting "high winds and rain." After seeing Katrina with tropical storm winds 250-300 miles inland after landfall, I extrapolated that we'd get 50-70 mph winds up here. I suspect we'll get a few tornadoes as well.
The wedding was on Saturday, and it was marvelous! The weather was beastly hot, but we had plenty of refreshing icy beverage (adult and non), there was a scad of food, the cake was great, and we had a blast!
Got to go out for a while. Be back ASAP. Please keep track of the added names.
Oh, I;m so happy to know that, sweetie. Thanks for telling me.
Folks will be safe in San Antonio, but there will be high winds, rain and possible flooding. It won't be a picnic there by any means.
LOL! Any excuse will do...lol.
They know something is up, but they are both fine and over 10 lbs.

As the proud owner of three golden retrievers-and foster mother to one puppy--take care of those gold kids please!
Thank you!!
Good to hear, Godspeed.
I wasn't implying that. My statement was more conversational slang...i.e. "Holy Smokes!" "No way!" etc.
Jaded
That came out snippier than I meant it; I apologize.
Wow. I think I need to prepare for no power, then. Crud.
Thanks. On a side note, my sister-in-law in Corpus reported that her cats were up all night walking the floor of the bedroom. They refused to go out for long and now follow the family around. She got the cat carriers out and for the first time ever, they didn't split for parts unknown. They had not even begun to pack, but the cats were ready to go. They know something. I have heard they can feel a change of pressure or something and get freaky. Maybe there is something to that.
My prayers are up for all you folks. Get that "go" bag ready.
