but under the Patriot Act, alot of the data gathering is likely legal now But maybe the Patriot Act was partly a legal motion to legitimize previous information-gathering processes that were already taking place illegally.

It appears that those that have the most to hide, the upper upper-level Repubs and Dems, former and current Presidents, are in cahoots on this against the people's right to know. I hope I am wrong.
