If you can pass for a Middle Easterner, become a Muslim (cross your fingers when you swear in), and get into the mosques. The biggest problem we have had regarding Islamic terrorism has been the lack of eyes and ears in the midst of them. We had plenty of those regards the Russians. Suggest you also learn Chinese. If I were a much younger person I would be studying languages. Infiltration is the best defense.
