How many times have you heard gold described as the "barbarous relic"? It is a favorite phrase of gold-bashers everywhere trying to make gold the object of derision.

I spend an immense amount of time making fun of kooky gold bugs and economic apocalyptics, and not only have I never used the term "barbarous relic, I've never even heard of it.

Methinks a strawman argument.
