To: Common Tator
Here's the dilemma the dems face. They can't say they will not vote for Roberts because he wasn't forthcoming when records will show he was more forthcoming than others. They can't say he's too conservative lest the pubbies say he's as conservative as Ginzberg is liberal and she was confirmed by a large majority in deference to President Clinton. I don't see any other grounds to deny his appointment.

This lays the groundwork for the next appointee who should study Roberts performance and carefully answer or not answer what's asked. If that person could be as reasoned as he, it would be very difficult for the dems to deny him/her the appointment (that's to say he/she comes with no baggage).
