There were several papers Roberts prepared when working for the Reagan Admin that were cited. He tried repeatedly to explain that while they may not have been his positions, as attny for the admin. he had to protect their interests. Clear to me but apparently not to the 'knowledgeable' Senators asking questions.

Roberts is skillful and has yet to refer to the reams of notes all Senators have before them.

The senators have nothing, it's like grasping for straws.

Loons are already saying that Kennedy Kicked Roberts....

Are they even watching the same hearings??

Sounds as pre-packaged as Kennedy's prepared statement...

Roberts is the epitome of a great judge: emotion does not throw him off guard. He can take Kennedy's very unsubtle insinuations that he, as well as the Reagan Adminstration, are fundamentally "mean-spirited" and racist without getting as irate as I was (I slapped Kennedy's face and almost knocked over my new TV!!).

You could tell Roberts was PISSED, but he very calmly but FORCEFULLY told Kennedy he was misrepresenting his position and the Reagan Administration's and then set the record straight. To me, it was a brilliant performance--and Kennedy knows it!

We will be very fortunate to have this man as Chief of SCOTUS!
