Disaster Can’t Destroy Gun Rights

Monday, September 12, 2005

National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre slammed New Orleans authorities Monday for seizing legal firearms from lawful residents.

"What we’ve seen in Louisiana - the breakdown of law and order in the aftermath of disaster - is exactly the kind of situation where the Second Amendment was intended to allow citizens to protect themselves, " LaPierre said.

"When law enforcement isn’t available, Americans turn to the one right that protects all the others - the right to keep and bear arms," LaPierre said. "This attempt to repeal the Second Amendment should be condemned."

The New York Times reported last Thursday that no civilians in New Orleans will be allowed to have guns, quoting the superintendent of police that "only law enforcement are allowed to have weapons."

A Louisiana state statute allows the chief law enforcement officer to "regulate possession" of firearms during declared emergencies. "But regulate doesn’t mean confiscate," said Chris W. Cox, the NRA’s chief lobbyist.

"Authorities are using that statute to do what the looters and criminals could not: disarm the law-abiding citizens of New Orleans trying to protect their homes and families," Cox said.

"The NRA will not stand idly by while guns are confiscated from law-abiding people who’re trying to defend themselves," he said.

"We’re exploring every legal option available to protect the rights of lawful people in New Orleans," Cox said, "and we’re taking steps to overturn such laws in every state where they exist."

"Local authorities in New Orleans are turning nature’s assault on human life into man’s assault on human rights," LaPierre said. "Four million NRA members intend to stop this unconstitutional power grab."

If people like Grut perform up to their usual level they will do a bunch of typing and griping and nothing else.

On the other hand, I won't make the situation worse, bombard you with pictures of Wayne LaPierre looking solemn and ask for contributions.

People like you created this situation. It could have never have occured if every lawful gun owner was involved. Instead many are slugs and sit back and ride ont the labor and money of others. SLUGS.

ask to see their warrant.

Truth..

The one thing americans can learn from the TV show "Cops" is to NEVER give permission to search your car...

The one thing americans can learn from New Orleans is, NEVER allow Law Enforcement or any other "authority" to enter your house.. ( without a legal and valid warrant, of course..)
If they want to "talk" or "make sure you're OK, etc.., let them stand on the porch and talk..
Then tell them to leave your property..

Few things raise my hackles as much as gun grabbing idiots, but I also get angry with NRA supporters who deride an individual for their lack of action. How dare you attack one person who believes as I do that the MILLION PLUS members of the NRA has done little to stem the erosion of the Constitution. Yes, it's easier to pick on a sole little guy.

In fact, the NRA HAS helped the gun grabbers and I challenge you to document the instances when the NRA alone has stopped a gun grabber.

Grut and I are not slugs and I am an EX NRA member for good reason. I'll join again when the NRA tars and feathers (literally) a few gun grabbing liberals.

All I see from people like you is a bunch of blowhards who sit behind their keyboard and say FMCDH. The NRA is passing concealed carry legislation, range protection legislation, and attempting to pass lawsuit protection. rw4site just sits behind his keyboard and pounds away. When I see you influencing legislation I will listen, till then you are just running your keyboard and leaching off the rest of responsible gun owners.

Admit it you are too cheap to put your money where your mouth is. Any lawful gun owner not belonging to the NRA, and voting in NRA elections, and giving money, has no right to talk about the NRA.

How many board of director elections have you voted in??

The 10,000,000 member NRA would be no compromise. However leaches suck at the throat of their fellow gun owners and don't do squat. Welfare queens of the gun world.

The NRA has passed NO laws. All they can do is support or oppose the passage of a law.

First let me say that I've read many of your postings and I admire your stance on gun rights, but you don't display the slightest knowledge of what a "RIGHT" is.

Calling those of us who have an opinion different from yours, slugs, keyboard warriors, and welfare queens is typical of the mindset of blind supporters of the NRA. Please rise above what you project as other's opinions and actions. My opinion is simply that a fourth grade education is all that is required to understand the Constitution. Permits for "RIGHTS?" Hell no! After you obtain the basic education of a fourth grader you might understand what "shall not be infringed" means.

BTW, Any judge from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court down to the lowest municipal court cannot make law under our Constitution. They cannot even rule on the Constitution. It is set as it was written and amended. All they can do is to rule on laws made by legislative bodies. Too many Americans have forgotten that.

I recently disposed of a large arsenal (lifetime collection) and I did it my way. Sold and given to people who want to and will protect the Constitution. Some even belong to the NRA. I am not ANTI NRA! I just don't want to support their misguided attempts to secure for me a permits for "RIGHTS" I already possess.

If you aren't part of the drive to protect your and your childrens RKBA you are a welfare queen gunowner period. You are part of the problem and you suck up on other's work.

Live with it. It is the truth.

Now you can blow off about how a right does not need to be defended and FMCDH but everyone here knows the truth - Welfare Queen.

Go bury your guns or something.

OReilly is simply a populist-fascist.

I've also noticed that ever since the Days of Wine and Loofahs, he's looking more and more like Mr. Magoo. Same facial features, same mannerisms... the only thing missing is that classic Jim Backus voice, and I will NOT be suprised if he comes down with THAT artifact too.

I think it might be some perverse kind of Dorian Gray thing he's got going.

I called and told them what I posted in a similar thread the other day. I characterize their response to date as Milquetoast. Enough yacking - time for action. Time for a violation of civil rights lawsuit. Enough spending money on lobbyists. Time to spends some (more) on lawyers. Guess we'll see if Chris Cox, LaPierre, or The Good Lord forbid even Sandy Froman has a pair of these:
