I guess that one can only take so much. Interesting story- my mother told me about a dark-skinned girl that was at her school in Detroit. She said that the black guys used to call her "monkey" because of her dark skin. She left and moved to Hawaii(before statehood) and sent my mom a photo of her with Hawaiian friends. She said that the people there liked her tone and thought that she was beautiful. My mom said that this lady had to leave the black neighborhood in Detroit and go to Hawaii to be treated in a kind manner.
