The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.
I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.
And free up a lot of in town real estate at the same time
It's hard to get out in front of it when you have 95% of the MSM trying to get you.
Norm Coleman is on Hugh's show now
Exactly. He also needs a much stronger voice in the press secretary position. The time is now to fight back. The president must stay on the high road, but someone has got to fight back.
The critical information is buried deep in this article -- not mentioned until the second to last paragraph.
Thank you Clancy for putting into words the uneasy feeling I've been having about this entire scenario in LA.
If Blanco isn't the stupidest person on earth and she let those people suffer to hurt Bush, then someone very high up has promised to cover her butt. And that brings us to the hearings......
And you're probably right!
I know. The media is on a feeding frenzy right now.
Keep us informed on what Norm is saying...
Is this story here to stay? I'm getting annoyed that Fox isn't yelling this from the mountaintops. Was it on Brit Hume? It certainly, much like the National Guard story, isn't on BOR. Come on, FNC. Do not drop the ball on this.
Give it some time.
Let it build some momentum :)
It's amazing. For fun, sometimes I'll go watch CNN or MSNBC just to see the new Bush bashing stories they are running this hour. They are still spinning stories based on the Feds didn't get food/water in and caused all the suffering. They have got to know this story is out there but the continue with the stories based on lies. Just simply amazing.
In the case of Bill Clinton, you will remember that his minions in the press, his advisors, and Republican office holders defended him no matter how awful the charges were.
President Bush only has the grass roots to stick up for him, as the office holders and the pundits are COWARDS!!
Blah. blah, blah.
Same old same, give up the ghost because you beleive phony polls and the MSM and blame the White House, while you sit back and do nothing but complain.
Memo to self, throw you outta of the foxhole, because as bullits are flying all around you'll be there doing nothing but complaining.
BTW, say hi to hillary at the DNC basement.
Thanks. Just turned it on. I was watching Sharpton on O'Blowhard defending Kanye West.
We're going to have to do that for him. We're going to have to make sure that everyone we know, our families, friends, co workers all know exactly what's been going on.
And if I were a conspiracy theorist, didn't have my tinfoil hat on, and were consuming large quantities of Mountain Dew and Pop-rocks, I would think that they wanted those people dead, but still on the rolls for voting in the next election!
Yesterday, I believe the story was about the Red Cross; today when I watched Fox News, it was about the Salvation Army -- they had someone from the Salvation Army in uniform on camera saying substantially what is said at the head of this thread.
Of course, the story is really about Louisiana politicians.
