Wash. man says he killed child rapists

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - A man turned himself in to authorities in the killing of two convicted child rapists, saying he picked the victims from a sheriff's Web site, police said.

Michael Anthony Mullen, 36, called 911 on Monday to claim responsibility for the killings, and officers who talked to him said he gave information that only the killer would know, according to a police news release. He was jailed for investigation of two counts of first-degree murder.

Hank Eisses, 49, and Victor Vasquez, 68, were found shot to death at their apartment Aug. 27. They were both classified as Level III sex offenders, considered the type most likely to reoffend. Sex offenders in Washington are required to register with local authorities, and the information is provided on the Web.

Mullen told authorities he targeted at least one of the two men after checking the county sheriff's Web site July 13, according to the police statement.

The bodies of Eisses and Vasquez were found by a roommate, also a sex offender. He said a man wearing a blue jumpsuit and a cap that said FBI on it came to their home, told them he was an FBI agent and said one of them was on a "hit list" on an Internet site, police said.

The roommate said he left while the "FBI" visitor was still there and found the bodies when he returned about four hours later.

Days after the killings, The Bellingham Herald received an unsigned letter claiming responsibility for the killings. Police notified convicted Level 3 sex offenders in the area as a precaution, but said the letter was vague and could be a hoax.

Not at all. As I mentioned earlier on the thread, the death penalty is administered by our justice systems, no matter how flawed they are. In this case, the perp took the law into his own hands.

I suppose you feel we needed to put the people in jail who execute the scum on death row for murder.

BS. State execution after all the proper legal proceedings are completed is not murder.

A guy looking at a list on a web site and then killing two of the people on it is murder.

The death penalty is the result of our justice system, no matter how flawed it is. This case is of someone taking the law into his own hands.

*Shrug* Our 'justice system' is just the government taking the law into its own hands.

We are a nation of laws. The justice system upholds those laws.

Although my gut instinct is "Good, two more predators out of the way," I can't help but be disturbed at the idea of vigilante justice.

Vigilantes decide for themselves who is good and who is bad. I agree that, in this case, the world is better off without these guys. But who will be the next target of vigilantes? Could be that PETA would decide to target anyone eating meat or cheese or wearing real leather shoes.

What do you think about the FBI sniper, Lon Horouchi, killing Vickie Weaver from ambush at Ruby Ridge.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't read about it.

It was all over the news here -- of course it was local. As I recall it cost the city of Wenatchee quite a chunk of change.

So tell me, wha is the relativity between
Murder 1, Murder with special circumstances,
Murder 2, Nanslaughter, Homicide,
Justifiable Homicide, self defense,
accidental death....I every one of those..
someone commits an act that ends the life of
someone(s) else.

When the legal justice system is fundamentally broken at every level, vigilanteism is better than nothing.

So you wouldn't have a problem with ELF shooting your spouse in the head for driving an SUV?

OF course you would. But if you yield to vigilanteism, all you are going to get is a bunch of people running around deciding for themselves who needs to die.

The relativity, is in the judgement and the punishment given. It just goes to show, that there are very few, if any absolutes.

It's either wrong to take a human life, or it isn't.....or something in-between.

IMHO, he should have stood trial.

I agree it could get out of hand, but this guy could nail 10 rapists a day and not hit an "innocent" for years. Our streets are full of scum. If he had not turned himself, his case could have been a low priority for years.

but executons the the state can no loger conduct due to thwe way that the ACLU scum have perverted our laws

Whatever the ACLU's failings, what do they have to do with Washington State's unwillingness to pass laws calling for the execution of child molestors?
