So very sad for pets and owners. So heartbreaking. A pet is a child to most owners, and this is unacceptable that they cannot be evacuated with the families My dog died in April, and it was extremely sad. I would never have left her behind anywhere. I can't stand hearing about these pets that people have been forced to abandon.

I would normally say "God bless you" but that pic says it has already happened.
My Grandmother used to say that whenever an animal comes to you, it's a gift from God. And you, my friend, have been blessed.I think he was a Christmas gift to us! He and our other pathetic creature make a fun pair. They're both crazy in totally different ways.

people are, however, I don't think my pets are any more or less important than I am to my family. They are part of my family..

I'm with the dog lovers on this one. I'm no animal rights nut. In fact, I'm an avid hunter. But I have an 11 year old weimeraner who has been by my side through some real tough times. She's been the most faithful friend I've ever had.
I would have driven out of the city to begin with. But if I had no way out, I would never leave her behind to starve or drown.

It's not fair to point out that persons who have no feelings for their fellow man will likely end up with no one who cares what happens to them?

Michael Mountain with Best Friends Animal Society was on Fox. He is helping with the rescue of the animals and hopefully the reuniting with their loved ones. I have been unable to put the animals left behind out of my mind.
