If you look at the aerial photos after the flood, there are no barges visible on the canal anywhere.

BEFORE the storm. That could have been days before. The barge hitting it could have been enough to weaken it but now show.
The levees that breached were the ones that had just been rebuilt. The old ones, the ones everyone was worried about, held up just fine.
If it turns out that a barge did not hit it and weaken it, someone needs to go through the construction contracts with a fine toothed comb because it will mean that millions of US taxpayer funds given to NO found their way into some pockets instead of going into first class construction.

Actually, I'm hoping they keep this up and that the dems in the senate demand a hearing. One of the first things it will do is open those books. I'm sure we are going to find billions in federal funds that were squandered and misdirected by the local politicians.
The democrat politicans won't be screaming about all the evacuees being homeless because they're going to all be in jail. The evacuees can then have their houses as temporary shelters :o)
