I heard this theory too. There was a bond trading firm near the top floor of one of the towers called "Cantor-Fitzgerald." As the story goes, Cantor got a phone call giving him a "heads-up" and decided to stay home from work, whereas poor Fitzgerald (they supposedly made him a partner to make the firm appear more respectable) came to work that day as usual and was never seen again.
