I've posted about this several times since the hurricane.
I was in the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Everyone was very civil. I was lucky because I was in the Silicon Valley, but even in San Francisco all the reporters talked about how nice and patient everyone was. People took turns stopping at all the lights. Everyone waited patiently while doing this.
I was single, and I didn't fear for my safety from thugs at all.
Even in Oakland, everyone was helpful while trying to get those trapped on the highway that collapsed.
It may be liberal around here, but people were really nice during the earthquake.
I just get furious with the government welfare system, allowing generations of people to stay on welfare. They have no work ethic nor any intention TO work. It's actually better for them if they don't. I heard yesterday of a woman who needed to get on welfare for four months. She could pay her bills but not her rent. Her husband was ill and couldn't go back to work until four months were up. They refused her because she was working. If she quit her job, they would pay for everything. This makes absolutely NO sense at all. There are times, yes, when people need help, but do they have to quit their jobs to get it? Argghhhh.
That sounds like a place I would like to live.
