My step-mother works with disaster situations and she said that during mandatory evacuations they are supposed to go in and get every citizen that is there to give their name and the location of dental records and their description and they tell the people "so we can identify your body",,, similar to toe tags--- probably more of a scare tactic, but whatever works
My fam is in alabama and mississippi and they are not complaining!!! you are right,,suffering, but not complaining,,,,,and certainly not blaming the government,,,
And all the governor of LA did was ask people to pray that the winds diminished.
Good---check out Letterman's response to Shep's tales of the misery in NO...let me know what you think.
she's a bloomin idiot---and every other day of the year I'm sure she is sooooo against prayer being pushed by the government
Love that tagline!
You are right...especially after reading the article that Peach posted today about the toxic dump that was already there when the built some of the houses...
right on top of the stuff...ick!
Where in those states? Did they lose their homes, or have really bad damage?
Good---check out Letterman's response to Shep's tales of the misery in NO...let me know what you think.
I just heard it,,,he's very,,,,disconnected,,,but I'm glad Shep is telling them about how devasted mississippi is too,,, Gosh he is so pretty,,,,
Shep went to Ole Miss, he BETTER mention Mississippi's damage...he would probably get in big trouble at home if he didn't...
Just little rural town about 30 miles north of pascagoula,, I only had one cousin lose her home up there,,the rest Thank God saved their homes with damage somewhat but suffered for days with no gas, food, water,,,or at least very little,,, My family that lives in Gulfport, biloxi, gautier, pascagoula,,I don't think have been able to get back home but they are braced for the fact they everything will be gone,,,, I haven't talked to them today b/c the phone lines so tied up,,,
Shep did say he is going to mississippi soon to report

Four years ago cable television executive C. Ray Nagin quit his high-paying job, gambling that his hard-nosed business sense, bold style and ability to relate to people in his city could save New Orleans from its downward cycle.
At the time, Nagin, a Democrat and a self-made millionaire, bragged that he had no experience in politics and had never depended on the government for work. He jumped into the mayor's race at the last minute because he believed he could rebuild the economy and bring in jobs.
His strategy got him elected.
But since Monday, the man who was so proud of never relying on the government has had to beg for federal help for his city.
Nagin used the same straight-shooting style that helped him get ahead in the business world and win over voters in New Orleans.

Yup, he's sure a straight-shooting, bold, hard-nosed guy. Blech.
Thanks. :-)
Well, all I can say is the author of that NYT article will probably himself have to find a new job one of these days. It's not up -- I mean down -- to the standards of the Old York Times.
yea I am embarrassed to say it but my mom said yesterday "That NO gov sure told Bush off didn't he?" Now, I know we aren't supposed to slap our mamas,,,but I came close,,,, I think the Lord woulda looked away just that one time,,,
Should tell your mother he's now praising Bush. LOL
Yep, the mayor sniffs which direction this is headed and now wants on Bush's coattails.
Arizona Carolyn
Did I just hear that correctly?
A couple of Arab nations are donating $600,000,000 !!!! ????
she really is a good person, just had a few brain cells fried from her pot smokin flower child days,,,
$500 Mil from Kuwait and $100 Mil from Qatar.
Before you make ANY more comments, check out the thread about it in news. Kuwait has already more than paid us back for the 1991 war, and they don't finance terrorism.
Mustn't forget the piles of $$$ that will somehow end up in his straight-shootin' bold pocket, either.
