Considering the entourage that he has to have....
and the security clearance that is required of all the people he comes in contact with...
I wouldn't think it would be "helpful" to the ones that are trying to get work done, for Bush to go down there very often.
Of course, I think of things differently than some.
Some people worry about his PR and whether it "looks" better for him to do this or that...
Laura is a good ambassador...and maybe if Lynn Cheney and some others could make some trips...
Wonderful map.
Sitting here in a place that gets blizzards and ice storms and put up a 24 km dike in 72 hours in '97 that would have wiped out half our city - I don't get it.
All done by local politicians. We are redoing our floodway system now to prepare for the increasing ferocity of storms and floods.
Alot of these people were homeless before the hurricane.
This disaster has been in the making for decades. Everyone knew it. It's no secret when you live in a town and the dam is higher than the roof of your house. It was an impossible situation. Always has been.
They had a disaster plan. The Mayor is an idiot. He almost got these same people killed last year during Ivan. Had Ivan not bobbled and turned East, we'd be living through this twice. The Mayor and Governor didn't have enough sense to follow the disaster plan or any plan.
That Mayor is a jerk, an idiot, a joke and a democrat. The Governor is no better. They are also liars. If the President hadn't stepped in this time, alot more people would be dead and dying. It's a crying shame.
hehehe.. but what did she do fly in by broom
If that is her POST-vacation look, I hate to see what she looked like before she took her relaxing vacation in Hawaii!!!
LOL and I LOVE Texas. :)
I think I'm going to the Gaylord soon. :)
Jesse Jackson: "There is a surplus of water and diapers, what we need are mobile homes."
A shortage of trailers in the South? Surely not!
Maybe he's planning on starting a new city of his own out of these mobile homes. I'm not too sure that all the potential residents would be considering them "temporary shelter". If Mayor Nagin has to threaten to cut off free water in order to get people sleeping on soggy mattresses on their porches to leave, what would it take to get them out of trailers with all utilities paid?
REALLY, the Gaylord?
That is not far from where I live...of course I haven't even been out to see it yet.
I live in one of the tourist destination cities in Texas, and yet I NEVER go to the tourist areas...LOL
Cool, you got under his skin AC! WTG! You should write him back and tell him you are a Freeper. That'll really drive the RINO over the wall. LOL
LOL! No kidding!
Aaaahhhh, but trailers attract tornadoes!
Wasn't one of the problems they had in Florida last year during their hurricanes was that there were so many people living in mobile homes??
Just like in tornado alley, where I live, a mobile home is the WORST thing to live in.
Same reaction I had! If Joey is ranting on air he must be feeling how much of a fool he's made of himself. LOL
You know it.
"basically repeated what he wrote to you in email.
Hate mail! the nerve!"
As someone put it, he seems to have gone over to the dark side. Here a little "mischaracterization", there a little "embellishment". Pretty quick you've morphed into just another lying MSM ____________ (fill in the blank).
Funny to me, but I don't recall JJ being to concerned about the homeless/very poor in NO until this....his chance to get some publicity,,,,,
Good report.
Do you mean to tell me that there were poor people and homeless people in NO BEFORE the hurricane???
Well I'll be...to hear JJ talk, this hurricane just ruined ALL of the residents of NO wonderful lives!!!
Oh, they'll never leave.
We have no idea where our city fathers plan to stuff 10,000 MORE refugees. Should be an interesting few days. We've all been speculating about where the trailers would be placed.
Of course, it'd be nice if they could move some of these people from the temporary shelters FIRST before moving more in. Not so. We've been told there is no place for them to go. Hold what you've got and expect more. Very nice situation to find oneself in. :(
Our National Guard Armory is being converted to a sick bay for people. Row upon row of cots, medical supplies etc., being set up. Gives some of us a very uneasy feeling. At least that area IS fenced off.
The Naval Air Station is serving as a staging area for relief. We've been told to expect THOUSANDS of FEMA workers to take care of things. Very comforting, NOT.
Well, apparently them being so poor is what got them in this mess,,,,according to dems, LA officials etc
