Evacuees have started arriving in Albuquerque too. There will be a HUGH culture shock for gang-bangers if we get some of those. Our locals will give them a fast "attitude adjustment". I don't look for any to stay here long if they have a choice, the desert is just way different from the south, I know from having lived in Texas for five years. I couldn't wait to get home, where I could look out and see for hundreds of miles to the distant mountains.
but realistically, DoD can't do EVERYTHING. we ask them to fight wars all over the world, conduct major parts of homeland defense, and now emergency management activities too?
and if we did have DoD running this, if a natural disaster like this happened again, the left and the media would be trashing DoD. you can't satisfy these people.
JJ standing next to Police Commissioner on press conference. I've muted the TV, no need to listen to him.
Now teamed up with Jesse Jackson. Barf.
Geraldo's a Liberal and he just called the NYT's out! That was fabulous! LOL
I'm not convinced that the freeper who posted it was honest.
With roughly 30,000 people in the Astrodome, surely somebody else would know this and seek out any camera to tell the story. As long as the media is in "Get Bush" mode, this kind of news would be BONG FOX News Alert-ed every 15 minutes.
Did you hear Mike Brown's background is training Arabian horses?
Do any of you remember the freeper who talked about the Houston shelters last night? Her husband won't let her work there.
What?
Everyone:
CNN.com has the ENTIRE Honore' press conference video posted on it's front page!! 3:23
www.cnn.com
javascript:cnnVideo('play','/video/us/2005/09/05/honore.presser.reax.wbrz.affl','2005/09/12');
General: 'That is B.S.' (3:23)
Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, heading up relief efforts, responds to criticism from a reporter. (September 5)
New Orleans paper rips federal response
House-to-house rescues under way in New Orleans
Lt. Gen. Honore a 'John Wayne dude'
on what specific point was he addressing?
Just guessing on reason for no-fly zone........
Terrorist threat.
I loved it --- especially when they said the times is a liberal piece of @#$% -- maybe, just maybe, Geraldo has come over from the dark side of old working at Fox.
Ripping on the media for searching for a few cowards that fled, instead of the stories of bravery of the officers that stayed behind. Says he didnt see one officer from Baton Rouge...saw outside agencies before state mutual aid inside N.O.
Now Jessie Jackson taking over the press conference, calling the evacuation a plan to "get the people out of site"
You are not understanding. The city has a responsibility to deploy transportation resources to assist those needing help in evacuating. Especially those who cannot move by themselves, such as invalids, those in nursing homes, etc. If people don't want to get on the bus, that's fine. They have a choice and can bear the responsibility. There were NO buses deployed, rather they were protected. There was plenty of time before the hurricane arrived to get to these people and at least take them to high ground. They may have been uncomfortable but they would be alive. The buses have been saved. One enterprising young man went and got one and drove 100 people to safety in Houston.
John Kane and his pal look like characters in La Cage Aux Folles
OH, I see you are one who is gunning for Mike Brown also. No thanks.
John Gobson is now slashed off as a media hack.
Like I said, taking notes.
