Freepers - thanks for the heads up on Blanco's SOE declaration. That's what I get for relying on the Wash Post, where the actual quote was:

"Louisiana did not reach out to a multi-state mutual aid compact for assistance until Wednesday, three state and federal officials said. As of Saturday, Blanco still had not declared a state of emergency, the senior Bush official said.

The NewsMax story has now been pulled. The Washington Post article, complete with bogus claim, remains posted.
