Dear Senator Landrieu,
RE:
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
I am so ashamed of the elected officials of my state. During the most horrific natural disaster we have ever faced as a nation it seems as if all of the Democratic elected officials of this state can do is point fingers of blame at President Bush. I read about your threat to the president and your immature childish behavior is another black mark on this state during this time of crisis.
Are there any adults in charge of this state? There are thousands of dead Louisiana citizens and all you and Gov. Blanco can do is to get on tv, cry and blame everyone else for YOUR failure to lead. Too bad we did not elect leaders like Mayor Rudy Guilliani and Gov. George Pataki. They stood up and took control from the moment they realized we were under attack. Their swift thinking and action maintained law and order that allowed them to save people's lives.
May God have mercy on you as you realize that your politicizing this catastrophe from the beginning has caused people to die. Perhaps you could have used your position of "leadership" to convince Gov. Blanco and Mayor Nagin to issue the mandatory evacuation as soon as New Orleans was in the cross hairs and commandeered all of those flooded school buses to take people to safety. How come democrats figured out to use those buses to take those people who were stranded to the voting booth but they failed to take them to safety when their lives depended on it? Can you answer that question for me?
All I can say is in this time of crisis I am thankful that I at least voted for people who had a plan and knew how to use it.
Sincerely,
A disgusted constituent of this state.
