Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy in our lives. Thank You for the life and service of our Country's Chief Justice, and for the loan of him for these 80 years. I pray comfort for his family, as Your Word says that you are close to the brokenhearted and rescue those who are crushed in spirit.
I join my brothers and sisters on this forum and around the world who are praying for President Bush. Lord, what a heavy burden he has, as the leader of this country, and as a target of so many people's admiration and hatred. Father, please grant his mind the peace that only You can give. Give him continued wisdom, courage and the boldness that springs from humility.
I ask that you prepare the hearts and minds of those who will be nominated as justices, and also as the next Chief Justice. Prepare them and defend them from the onslaughts of their enemies...both spiritual and physical. I also lift up John Roberts and his family to you, as his confirmation hearings begin this Tuesday. Guide his thoughts, guard his heart, and be with his wife and children.
Lastly, Lord, please bless those who are affected by the hurricane and aftermath. Help us to do our part; we know that you are faithful to do yours.
