It is very posible that the MSM all out attack on Bush will cost him dearly in backing his court picks. In addition the spinless Republicans have been anything but supportive.

I guess I am in a negative mood about politics right now. I will happily listen to others who have a different take, PLEASE.

Chris Matthews semi-predicts the President will allow Roberts nomination to proceed, then shortly after Roberts is confirmed, appoint Roberts to Chief Justice.

someone on CNN said most likely Bush will appoint Scalia as Chief Justice. (sitting justices still must going through confirmation hearings for the Chief Justice position.)

Pete Williams on MSNBC says O'Connor still participating in the Supreme Court, says, her resignation isn't final until her replacement is named.

Pete Williams echoes Greta in saying it won't be surprising if Bush replaces Renquist with a conservative, because that won't change the complexion of the court. It's expected. Both Williams and Greta seem to be saying the democrats won't fight too hard over whoever Bush names to replace him.

Williams doesn't predict whether or not Roberts' hearings will be postponed, but ends by saying he will be surprised if democrats delay the Roberts hearings.
