Agreed, but I look at it like this. Suppose well-off parents hit some trouble. They need to spend quite a bit of money to get back on their feet. Do they take money from the child just out of college, barely setting himself up in the world? Even though they have sacrificed to get him there? No, they use their resources to solve their problem, perhaps with help from wealthy friends, and allow their child to use his meager assets to build his own life. Not only is it better for the child, but it makes him independent faster.
I'm impressed. You can tell your friends by what they do when you actually need their help.
Learning, also, to help those that are helping you. Our military paid and still paying the ultimate price for their freedom.
