***Not to quibble too much...I'm extremely glad for the ammunition to defend Bush...but "appeal" is a bit different from "order" as is in your title.***
The President cannot, by law, ORDER a governor to evacuate a state, nor can he send in federal troops without the governor's permission. States rights must be upheld in order to prevent some future president from becoming a dictator. Think of Gore or Kerry as president, and you'll see how the law protects this country from being taken over by subversives.
If anyone has the exact wording of the law on this matter, it would be appreciated so that we can counteract the libs' claims.
But Bush could not order the governor..it was HER call. Truth be known, Bush saved a lot of lives down there. Now if he had the abosolute power the libs THINK (but do not want) he has...those buses would not be sitting inwater right now...But had he gone in against the governors wishes, he would be called a tyrant..control freak...dangerous...hitler...fill in the blank...
