IIRC a supreme court justice who dies in office must be replaced immediately. No waiting around. His replacement will supercede that of O'Connor. Just sorry he didn't get to swear his clerk, Roberts in to office.....A great loss for our nation.
I worry that the dems will try to talk O'Connor into not retiring..and she will agree.
