"You should have saved us from our incompetence."

Typical liberal BS.

Idiot reporters.

Having thousands of troops in before the hurricane would have increased the risk to them, and then you have no rescuers.

IT's ALL Bush's FAULT!!!!!!!!!!

Can you think of a more reasonable answer? Didn't think so. Pulling out of Kyoto caused global warming that caused more powerful hurricanes which hit areas that President Bush doesn't care about because there are black people there. Why doesn't anyone else see this? (/nausea, sarcasm)

Liberals who decry imperialism want a despotic monarch in a time of crisis.

To be fair and reasonable, since Nagin's office and 80% of his city is flooded it probably was difficult for him to write a letter to the president. Had he written it, he would have either needed to fax it (no electricity) or mail it. Do you think USPS is still doing pick ups?

As for those comparing a natural disaster that flooded a city and destroyed surrounding states and cities, with a terrorist attack that took down less than 1 block, is also unfair. Food, water and information were available to those in NYC.

As for the writer who says the mayors constituents are on drugs, perhaps you are one of the people who would have preferred to see them all drown?

Oh my .. where do I begin

To be fair and reasonable, since Nagin's office and 80% of his city is flooded it probably was difficult for him to write a letter to the president. Had he written it, he would have either needed to fax it (no electricity) or mail it. Do you think USPS is still doing pick ups?

I never said he had to write a letter .. I was asked a question and I answered it

Also, I might add .. As Mayor.. he has access to a Command Center

As for those comparing a natural disaster that flooded a city and destroyed surrounding states and cities, with a terrorist attack that took down less than 1 block, is also unfair. Food, water and information were available to those in NYC.

Both were terrible events

The difference was that one Mayor took action and showed Leadership and the other didn't

As for the writer who says the mayors constituents are on drugs, perhaps you are one of the people who would have preferred to see them all drown?

IF you bothered to listen to what the Mayor said ..

It was the Mayor that said his constituents were drug addicts

BTW ... Welcome to FR

To be fair, he probably had a cell phone, while his socks were dry, sitting in Baton Rouge evacuating his buddies from the Hyatt.

To be fair, a natural disaster is not in the same category as a terrorist attack in NY City.

To be fair, the writer didn't say his constituents were on drugs, the mayor did.

Oh please, cut the drama.

The mayor coordinated his childish rant with the Presidents visit, he knows help is coming, and he knows why the logistics were tough. He did this for publicity to a willing press, as tho the Pres heard him in the morning, and said, "oh shoot, I forgot to send troops, he sounds mad"

He also knows whose fault it is for not getting his people out.

You guys are reaching, and have overplayed your hand, again.

Someone needs to ask him where his emergency management services director is - the one he appointed, who makes over a hundred grand a year.

You mean this guy?

FEMA is getting an earful from the man heading New Orleans' emergency operations.

Terry Ebbert says the federal agency's response to Katrina is "a national disgrace."

Ebbert says FEMA has been in the city for three days, but he says that has yet to result in any command and control. He says Mayor Ray Nagin has been "pushing and asking, but we're not getting any supplies."

The emergency chief says the evacuation of thousands from New Orleans to Texas has been "almost entirely" a Louisiana operation -- saying he hasn't seen "a single FEMA guy."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1475330/posts?page=125

But what do we know about Ebbert?

Let's see:

Ebbert, 60, has been directing the city's new Office of Homeland Security and Public Safety since his appointment by Mayor Ray Nagin on Feb. 11. A highly decorated war hero and the former executive director of the nonprofit New Orleans Police Foundation, Ebbert has been given major powers and responsibilities as an executive assistant to the mayor. His duties are commensurate with his $114,676 annual salary.
Ebbert is charged with coordinating the city's terrorism response capabilities and obtaining federal and state funds for homeland security. He also will oversee the police and fire departments, the Office of Emergency Preparedness and city Emergency Medical Services, and the 911 Center or Orleans Parish Communications District.

His duties extend beyond a crisis or special events such as Mardi Gras. Ebbert has responsibility for the daily operations and planning of all those departments as well as the management of their budgets, Nagin told Gambit Weekly last week, after presenting his plan to re-organize city government to the City Council. "Mr. Ebbert is responsible for all matters related to public safety," the mayor said.

**So Ebbert, appointed by this mayor, IS the guy who should have had all this worked out!

Yes, thanks! I had a feeling you knew who I meant.

Not a peep from this person that I have heard or seen at any press conference yet.

He came out of the gate really early, way too early if you ask me, trying to cast the blame on Bush.

When I Googled him and found out it was HIS job, it only confirmed what we had thought originally: this was the proverbial "inside job".........they're guilty as hell.

And you wait -- when the investigation comes -- and it will -- I'd bet my house somebody is getting kick backs!

I am betting with you. There is going to be some real evil unearthed, if they dig for it, after this is over.
Evil that will include deliberate neglect at the local level - allowing things to worsen, or people to die, perhaps.

Yep. This guy has a history of not taking responsibility for his actions. He and his wife tried suing their life insurance company because the agent made them make poor decisions concerning annuities and life insurance policies. Terry Ebbert was paying $342.67/mo. for a $25,000. policy. No typo $25K. Either the guy is about to drop dead or he's stooooopid. Insurance agent and company won a summary judgment and the Ebberts owe them for costs. 4:01-cv-00531-CDP Ebbert, et al v. General Amer Life, et al

I listened to the irresponsible moron who had absolutely no emergency plan, who asked of people to go to the SuperDome for safety where they ended up being raped, beaten and killed due to his lack of preparedness and now he has the audacity to blame the federal government and, of course, Bush. I was reading an AP article where it clearly shows the attitude of the majority of people of NO and why there was no coincidence of lawlessness there and I quote: "Hell no, I'm not glad to see them(National Guard). They should have been here days ago. I ain't glad to see 'em. I'll be glad when 100 buses show up," said 46-year-old Michael Levy, whose words were echoed by those around him yelling, "Hell, yeah! Hell yeah!" "We've been sleeping on the ... ground like rats," Levy said. "I say burn this whole ... city down."
