I guess I'm in the minority then, I think he and all the others are totally stressed out from this reporting... I see they moved Goldblat to Houston after his nightmare last night, you could see him melting down... and they had moved him into the Quarter when they pulled Shep out and Shep started his meltdown there, too... the Quarter is more than dangerous right now and I defy any of us to go there for long and not have PTS.
Precisely my point- they need to get them out- now.. These are not men who are equipped with what it takes to report this. I have a rule of thumb- if I find my attention is on the reporter of the story- rather than the STORY- I switch channels.
Real reporters- (don't ask me to name one offhand!) are in the background..they are a shadow..they present the facts in ways that are never self-promoting. I guess an example might be something on the Discovery Channel ..we become so engrossed in what we're learning FROM the reporter..but couldn't tell you anything about who THEY are at the end..
I was at the French Quarter Marriott a few years ago for a convention, and Halloween came upon us....THAT scenario still gives me nightmarish flashbacks. I thought I knew "kinky" before, but learned better.
Seriously - lots of Nawlins has been honky-tonk and 'sin city' for years, but it was a geographically beautiful place and just oozed history and lore....this past several days breaks my heart.
That city was one of the few I've been to that allowed you to literally smell and taste it's uniqueness, and it's sad to see it all obliterated.
