Incidentally, the top wealthiest states in terms of income per capita and median household income are:

1) District of Columbia
2) Connecticut
3) New Jersey
4) New York
5) Massachusetts
6) Maryland
7) Hawaii
8) Nevada
9) Alaska
10) Illinois

Of course they are also the STINGIEST states in terms of charitable giving. Mississippi - the nation's poorest state in terms of average household income - ranks No. 1 in giving when measured as a percentage of income, followed by Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. By contrast, the nation's wealthiest states are much less generous. Connecticut - with the highest average household income - ranks 44th in percentage of income donated to charity.

So frankly some of the comments on this thread and others make me sick.

Thanks for the info, very eye-opening and, as you said, sickening. Incidently, it's curious (to me at least) to see Utah on the Top 5 Poorest States...

All the big-time CEO's simply have their shareholders make the donations through the Company rather than mak8ing personal contributions.

Besides, it's damned expensive to send all the children to Yale, Brown, and Hahvahd
