Nurse or doctor on Fox said that thugs had taken over the roof of the hosp. They were demanding that the helos rescue their families instead of the patients. Most had rifles....so, the helos refused to land and nobody got evacuated.
I am puzzled, too. Who are they and why are they doing this? Just evil is what another Freeper posted earlier. I can't think of any other reason. Just plain evil.

A televised nightmare that destroys the PC LIE that "all people are basically good" and upholds the doctrine of the total depravity of man.
NOTE: I grew up in NOLA(1959~1989). I hate what is happening. The above is the reason. Decades of corruption, welfare, drugs,...you name it, have added to what is being sown now.
I've heard two explanations that are plausible with the third being that they are just plain evil people. First, it is the frustration of being on 4 sq ft of roof above a toxic sea and seeing a vehicle - any vehicle - pass you by. It might not make sense to you or I sitting behind our keyboards, but imagine the desperation of being in that situation. The "you're leaving me here to die? Take that!" effect.
The second answer is the shots are taken in order to attract attention, like waving a flag if you had one but all you have in your hand is a gun. Again, it doesn't make much sense but after 5 days with death at your right hand, rational thought is replaced by survival instinct.
