No communication and the governor not leading has done a lot of the damage.

One of the things the wildland firefighting knows is that it is the local commander that has to make the decisions, and the system is designed to help and back that person up with supplies and support.

There is no Incident Commander with backed up authority, by the looks of things.

Until the governor puts some teeth in the National Guard, or appoints someone with the power to make decisions she's incapable of doing, things will be bad.

Well I am glad some get the idea that the blame should lie with the local's. We are using up a lot of energy bashing and blaming and it is not doing those poor people any good.

If people are so disturbed, then maybe they should just go clean their house or help someone in need in their own neighborhood.

Radio traffic shows that there is a command element to the responders. It is called "Pelican Base", however, I don't know who is in charge.

From the sound of the traffic, it seems that LSP, EOC, National Guard, NOPD are doing their own thing.
