WHY are the snipers shooting at rescue copters? What exactly are they hoping to accomplish??

I am puzzled, too. Who are they and why are they doing this? Just evil is what another Freeper posted earlier. I can't think of any other reason. Just plain evil.

The reason?

Psalm 14

2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God.

3 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.

Deeds done by those who have not been DRAGGED to conviction, repented, and received new hearts not full of evil.

A televised nightmare that destroys the PC LIE that "all people are basically good" and upholds the doctrine of the total depravity of man.

NOTE: I grew up in NOLA(1959~1989). I hate what is happening. The above is the reason. Decades of corruption, welfare, drugs,...you name it, have added to what is being sown now.

I agree, but the constant chaffing, bitching and blaming of the left is just getting on my nerves today.. I gotta be a little quicker with the mute button.

I'll bet you there were still a least a few ham radio operators down there working away through the aftermath.

Actually, in this case the Hams in the affected areas got hammered. There was a lot of posting early on, noting the unusual silence on the Ham frequencies.

Good to hear. This is when I love him. When he is just himself; not reading some damn script trying so hard to please people.

Has John Kerry-Heinz been heard from?

I hear he is opening up his house - er, her house - on Nantucket to take in refugees. But maybe he has flip-flopped on that idea.

Listening to Houston PD Astrodome command on the scanner:

There were people are busting windows and breaking into cars, although it sounds like more like an isolated situation rather than a widespread outbreak.

Now calling for an ambulance for a lady who has passed out on the steps of the stadium. She's conscious and breathing, probably exhausted.

A fight has just broken out in the dome. It's a lady beating up on a little boy. Geez.

That said, it appears to be going as smoothly as can be reasonably expected. The Houston PD seems to be on top of everything.

They have been trying to talk to him since he did the "cursing interview", but he is always unavailable (according to his handlers). So now they are appealing to him directly.

Meanwhile, the people in MS and LA are furious because politicians are going in front of cameras talking about what all they have done while they are waiting to get something as basic as a bottle of water and an energy bar.

The results are not stats in a press conference. The results are whether there are people wandering around wondering if they have been completely abandoned, who have no idea that there may be a convoy of trucks sitting up in Mendenhall waiting to come down to the coast.

And those folks are wandering around, right now.

The blame game here disgusts me.

Better to act than to let thousands of people die needlessly due to ineffective state and local leadership.

This seems a lot like the old "husband's maxim": it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Man, the impression I'm getting is that Bush is really speaking like a leader.

Prayers are being answered.

Exactly. Let's compare and contrast.

Mississippi and Alabama-
FEMA: We're here. What do you need?
Gov: These units need support. We have resupply points, indicated on this map, we need fuel there. There are people in these sectors that need help; these sectors you can ignore, they're all evacuated. We have airstrips ready to go here and here to land your supply aircraft...
(after briefing) FEMA: OK, consider that done. (parade of FEMA personnel and supplies disperses in accordance with plan).

Louisiana -
FEMA: We're here. What do you need?
Governette: (sniffle) I don't know. Help us! Help us now!
FEMA: What do you need?
Governette: (sniffle) I don't know. Help us! Help us now! I want some ice cream! I don't know what day it is!
FEMA: ...

You are so right. These rescue crews have been working incredibly hard. I think I heard him say that they have performed over 5000 airlift rescues. Bravo to all the rescue crews.

I wouldn't read too much into Blanco's absence at Mobile. Louisiana is at the far west end of all this, and Mobile is at the far east. Morever, several of the routes between Louisiana and Mobile are impassable.

imagine what Sharpton and the MSM would be saying now, if in the first 24 hours of this crisis, Bush had dismissed the governors rolein manitaining civil order and started flying Cobra gunship over new orleans to gun down the looters. just imagine that, you think the coverage is biased now, imagine if he had done that.
