I think you'll find that NO is full of warehouses and railroad lines...but the reporters are geographically challenged.
Number one, sad to say, most Americans aren't paying attention.
Number two, polls show that he has overwhelming approval for his handling of the crisis.
Number three, those that figure the President is not doing all he can, don't understand state versus Federal law, unless he is willing to state that the local and state authorities are not willing to help their own citizens.
Beyond that Posse Comitatus and the Insurrection Act are very clear...the Governor must ask for the President to allow Federal troops to "enforce the law" of LA.

One of the stations interview a woman who got out on Tuesday. She was older, she walked out, hitched a ride to Houston, called her daughter in Jacksonville, daughter arranged for a charity to give her a plane ticket, and she is in Jacksonville with her daughter.
Didn't the governor say yesterday there were only 2400 left at the SD?
Don't know if it's been reported on this thread, but the Mayor of NO gave an interview and says he ordered Martial Law days ago and doesn't know why Blanco didn't enforce it.

The people in MS may not be aware of conditions in NO. Even if they are, the people in MS have lost so much. Granted they have their lives and hopefully will be able to rebuild. They're walking over the rubble where their homes used to be. I can't fault the people in MS for crying. The history of their lives has been reduced to rubble and junk. I don't know about you but my home houses things such as hand painted china my Grandmother painted, pictures of people long dead, throw pillows crewel embroideried by my Mom and her sisters, my son's first teddy bear (so what if it has no stuffing and an eye missing), momentos that remind me of my Dad, etc.
I'm sure the people in MS are extremely grateful they aren't having to be in NO now. It still doesn't take away from what they're having to deal with.

Then the party needs to work hard for instant runoff voting. This would ensure that Hillary doesn't get the presidency if there is a split in the Republican Party. I think everyone agrees that the evil of the liberals getting power is greater than the evil that may exist in a party split.
I think the reporters are taking anyone's comments and not checking to see who is rigiht.
Oh, and who is this Ebbert guy quoted as FEMA isn't there? The whole thing is making me nuts.
And TV channels keep going on and on about how there is no communications, but are they doing anything to help? NO.
It is a job beyond imagination..and just east there is also massive destruction, homeless, jobless , without electricity ...I have so much sympathy for those suffering and those trying to help..
I think the area is just so large that you can't get to all areas of the city.
As the reporters were complaining about no water, everybody I saw behind them as they were complaining, had a bottle of water in their hands.
Could be...but I heard that walk-ups are continuing to arrive at the SD.

5:31 A.M. - HOUSTON (AP) -- After accepting more than 11,000 Hurricane Katrina refugees, officials said the Astrodome was full and began sending buses to other shelters in the Houston area Thursday night.
"We've actually reached capacity for the safety and comfort of the people inside there," American Red Cross spokeswoman Dana Allen said. She said people were "packed pretty tight" on the floor of the Astrodome.
Buses that continued to arrive were being sent on to other shelters in the area and as far away as Huntsville, about an hour north of Houston.
5:27 A.M. - BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- After helping to triage and evacuate hospital patients in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina's wrath bore down on the city, Louisiana Health Secretary Fred Cerise could only choke back tears. "We have people there that we know we haven't been able to reach yet," he said, his voice breaking and his eyes rimmed red from lack of sleep.
5:24 A.M. - UNDATED (AP) -- Hurricane Katrina damaged or displaced an estimated 58 Gulf of Mexico oil platforms and drilling rigs. The American Petroleum Institute says among those, 30 rigs and platforms have been reported lost. Tim Sampson, an A-P-I spokesman says no company breakdown was available.
5:10 A.M. - CNN reports explosions believed to be railroad cars.
5:07 A.M. - CNN producer Jim Spellman, who has been stationed with police sharpshooters, says reports indicate that New Orleans officers are not showing up for work. In some districts as many as 60 percent of officers have not reported for duty.
4:55 A.M. - Refugee Alan Gould spoke to CNN from inside the New Orleans Convention Center. He said sick, eldery and children are dying and children have been beaten and raped. He pleaded for help.
4:41 A.M. - CNN reports fires, explosions erupting in southwest part of New Orleans. Thick smoke is billowing into the air. Police are working to get hazmat teams to the area, which is near Chartres Street. That is where railroad cars are housed.
Did anyone see Chertoff's presser yesterday? If I remember correctly, he quoted an area of 90,000 sq mi being affected. 90,000 sq miles.
