Please contact your church, parish, synagogue, ward, or meeting hall. There is a need. The Salvation Army is also great. These groups will make certain that the people that you want to help are truly in need. Not perfect people for sure, but they will not show up with weapons and drugs.
Yes, we don't don't get into the ethnic thing here like many parts of the country.
Its more where (what town) you grew up.
I've noticed that many other parts of the country are very aware if you are Italian, Irish, Greek, whatever.
It's great that people know their heritage is, it keeps life interesting.
To me it's much more important what somone's values are.
Freepmail it to NautiNurse.
Oh, I'm not saying it's not an enormous task...I was just trying to tell...whoever it was...that 1 gallon isn't that much for one person per day.
Delivering it? Oh yeah. THAT'S a big deal...
If they had started the evacuation of NO 24 hours earlier, those buses would probably have been available for moving some people out of harms way.
I thought that was what he was saying...that the City and State officials had no excuse.
Although WWL-TV appeared to have signed off the air, I'm still picking up transmission from WWL via a cable feed on KWCE, a low-power UPN station in Alexandria.
The newscasters in WWL are now reporting that people were evacuated from the roof of the American Can Company to the airport in Kenner, and from there they were put on a plane to Houston.
Plane evacuations are a great sign!!
And didn't Max Mayfield from the NHC call them also warning them of the # of potential deaths/destruction.
You can get both at WalMart... its spelled Valerian and get the 0.3mg melatonin... if that is too strong cut the melatonin in half.
yes, it was in the Hurricane warning...actually, the storm did less damage than what they predicted.
I read that the young guy got to the SB and in talking to one of the guards, was told to take it and get out of NO. They picked up people on the way, many with kids.
So proud of them.
Agreed. The Quad Cities, where I am originally from, is a true melting pot. Wasn't always that way, but it is now. It was always heavily Hispanic and Black, but now it's Asian, Indian, African, you name it. Not much trouble between races to speak of.
At 11:30 am, they announced the authority to commandeer and the opening of the refuge of last resort at the Superdome.
Did no one think to pick up the phone and order private portapotties delivered to the Superdome?
Send cops to wherever they're stored, cut the fence, load them up, park them inside, deploy them afterwards.
Why was there no generator for the Superdome? Just enough for emergency lighting and some signage to deliver info to the crowd.
The blood of the dead is on the hands of Nagin and the Governess, Mme Babineaux.
I doubt if they will trash the place. I used to watch the Astros play there. They can't make more of a mess than rowdy fans on Bud day with extra innings:') Any trouble makers will be dealt with immediately. Texas is welcoming them. As long as we want them and they want to come, what's the problem?
We are sure going to learn a lot of lessons from this.
How could Tropical Storm 14 become "Maria"? Given that this is an odd year, wouldn't the 14th Atlantic storm be a male name starting with "N"?
WolficatZ, I haven't mentioned it before but I really appreciate all you've done on the scanner feeds. I'm on dialup and can't stream here, but you have filled a critical information gap with your posts.
Thanks.
