Hi Sink! How are you doing? And from what I heard on CNN, the "desertion" rate is even higher in some precincts.
I agree; the Mayor and Governor are clearly overwhelmed and not capable of responding effectively to this situation.
Notice the Insurrection Act has to be requested by the state governor or legislature...the President cannot enact it himself.
"The Insurrection Act (Title 10 USC, Sections 331-335). This act allows the president to use U.S. military personnel at the request of a state legislature or governor to suppress insurrections. It also allows the president to use federal troops to enforce federal laws when rebellion against the authority of the U.S. makes it impracticable to enforce the laws of the U.S. "

You are right about that. Fema was ready and waiting but had to wait til the storm passed and the State got it's act together. If the State is not with it then the process is slow. Remember how Bush 41 got blamed for the poor response on Andrew. That was because Lawton Chiles did not ask for assistance which is required for the feds to act. It is like have a written order to do the job so that people get paid.
hehe, the Communist China TV is showing their own Tsunami preparations, all orderly chinese assembling onto busses....then footage of New Orleans with the ernest chinese guy shaking his head.
Believe Louisiana has a large group of guardsmen over in Iraq.
Another question that I have. I have not read all the threads, my question might be answered but here goes.
I thought that we were air dropping stuff (water/food) within 24 hours to the tsunami areas.
Why have we not been doing this since Tuesday? Or have we?
BBC report on Harvey Jackson with video link (his story starts at 45 seconds into the video):

paraphrased big time...
I rescued a cat years ago as a kitten, tamed it. My son fell in love with it. A family who lived out in the mountains wanted some mousing cats, so I gave them the cat since we had others. My son, to this day, has never forgiven me.
The problem with that is that for a certain number of these people we will be forcing them to be more productive than they ever were in N.O. where they just had to wait for their "check" to arrive.
That group is going to show indignation at any suggestion that they need to do anything other than lay on their cot and wait for the food cart to roll by.
Whew- Scarborough is REALLY hitting hard on the administration tonight...
that woman is a moonbat
" If so you have just declared anyone who has any property damage in the area they will not recover any insurance funds. Imagine the economic devastation of such a decision."
Yeah and imagine the human devastation if you don't. Well, actually, we don't really have to imagine do we?.
Thomas is missing to me as I don't klnow where he is.
But I don't know if he is really missing.
I heard a woman say on another station she hadn't had a "hot meal" in three days.
The media is creating this mess, and they are feeding a lot of it.
I said that from the first day.
Go to their website I have too many windows open at the moment to find it there should be a way to contact them from there. Earlier on this thread someone posted a link to a animal group that has a team down there or ready to go down there to rescue animals. I sent them an email calling their attention to snowball maybe if they get a few more they will try to find him/her.
I doubt they can help that many people. They are having a hard enough time dealing with the people they have now and taking care of themselves. So, if not for that, what do you think they are looking for?
Emergency personnel wait to transport 29 patients from the Veterans Administration Hospital in New Orleans upon arrival on a second Tennessee Air National Guard transport plane at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas.
Does he understand the number of trees that are on Hwy 49? There's no way to get the stuff through!
Shut up you grandstander!!
