They are interfering with the resuce effort. If I were running things, I'd drop some cobra helicopters in the dry area where all the looting is going on and set up a command post and order everyone else OUT. It makes me so mad I could spit. Once again, they aren't going to be able to do what needs to be done.

To highlight your point the Mayor has ordered the police to stop looking for survivors and restore law and order. That's a tough decision as jeffe pointed out earlier, and one I wouldn't want to have to make. I agree also with the guy that said they should have shot looters on sight in the beginning before it became widespread and people who aren't otherwise criminal became involved.

Yeah, well I wouldn't want to make it either, but I would order looters who were stealing nonessentials shot. Period. Then at least they wouldn't have gotten ahold of so many weapons. That's the only way they are going to be able to restore order; the local and state laws went down with the flood and higher laws have taken over.

Now how are they going to get those weapons away from them? They are probably holed up in hidey holes and will take hostages, and more lives will end up being lost than if they had shot the ones who started stealing non-essentials. The h**l with using it for bartering for essentials. Food and water are on the way and they know it. There are plenty of canned goods in empty homes. They don't need to be robbing people at gunpoint in their own homes and hospitals.

They need to order everybody on guarded busses or however they can get everybody out, try to find those still trapped alive, and then do a search and destroy of what is left, as in free fire zone. This is war.

And they are stupid to rebuild that place. Pouring all that money into WHAT? This should be a good object lesson for the rest of the country. If not a hurricane, something else could happen to any American city.

There's a brand new prison sitting in Thompson, Illinois. I don't know why it's just sitting there empty. Heaven knows there are plenty of criminals in Illinois. Somebody suggested putting people up in there. There're other places to put up people. Put the CRIMINALS in there, the ones who are sitting on the overpass. Just boat them right up the Mississippi and a short ride to the prison.

I used to be against guns, but a LIBERAL convinced me why that would be a bad idea to confiscate them. Then only the criminals and police would have any weapons. Instant 180 and haven't looked back.
