"IMO Once they start comparing Texas schools to the schools in LA, they may not want to go home."

Not sure what you meant by that. The people I know around N.O. sent their kids to private school because LA schools were not -- how to say it -- quite up to academic standards.

Depending on the district in which they enroll, the LA kids may well struggle.

But they're all going to want to go home. Even with all the disgusting behavior going on in NO right now, I hurt, hurt, hurt for the kids and for the good folks who have totally lost not only possessions but community.

Kids are actually pretty resilient. I have worked with kids in a homeless shelter, and I am always amazed and inspired by their strength and zest for life regardless of their present circumstances. It's the old people I feel the worst for. I fear many suicides, depression, alcoholism, etc. among these unfortunate people.
