I am awake this morning. Frankly I am not giving a damn about the NO levee board. Maybe it is a phase here but NO is gone.

It is hard to wrap the mind around. NO is gone. People are wandering out. Many are dying. The rest is just static.

Maybe the time will come in the endless post mortems that the NO levee board will be discussed in a long article. But this is like some kind of On the Beach scenario going on here. The NO levee board is
past being relevant.

Or that is just how it feels right now.

Denial, anger, grief, depression, acceptence. Even if you don't fit the profile, I've been watching different people go through different stages of it, here and across the nation, since before the storm.

There's an interesting dynamic in play with an event of this magnitude. As the center of the bell curve goes through each successive phase, their combined reaction is affecting the outcome of the very chain of events that set the process in motion.

I would say it's fascinating, but I suspect the truth is that its simply easier to watch all of this from one or more steps removed.

Yep and what is interesting, and I haven't heard it said, is the next to last paragraph of your post. As the center of the bell goes thru each phase and so on.

But what is interesting, is that those phases are fluid. One goes back forth. I may say I am not mad at Blanco anymore today, I really think it is beyond that, but in an hour I may be fuming. And I haven't been in denial at all, from the beginning, from the flood and the dome, I knew the outcome was going to be horrid. What I did not appreciate is that this is the stuff that has always caused migrations of populations. The map is changed and the world has changed. I didn't grasp that early.
