Do you consider "food" to be "loot"? I don't. I don't consider consumable food or drink to be loot. If food isn't consumed, it's lost anyway. Sustaining human life must be foremost.
Looting is taking stuff you don't need. Stuff that will not go bad. Loot is made up of objects which have value. Loot is stuff you "gather up" to show your wealth, or put away to barter with. Of course, loot can be money.
