I know. I can see it happening now. But that damned governor and mayor took no action except to dump everyone at the Super Dome and people had no information at all because there was no local response of any kind. Praise God, though. At least massive help is on the way for this massive tragedy.
From what I follow on the FR threads they are already starting to unload whatever on the top of the SD.
Looks like someone with fuzzy ones has finally taken command and is barking orders.
I began to suspect the governer and mayor had no plan when I say the cars heading out of the city on only one side of the interstate!?!? No plan, whatsoever, for the shut-ins and those without the means to drive out of the city. Anderson Cooper showed a picture of, at least 25 school buses, parked together and underwater. Imagine if the mayor had a plan for the school and city buses to line up on canal street or I-10 or at the SuperDome to take those people to the AstroDome BEFORE the storm hit??? I am so angry at this mayor - it's everybody else's fault according to him!!!
BOTTOM LINE...
In ANY Major Disaster, and, GOD FORBID, one of this size. it's ALWAYS been known that it takes 36-72 hours to mount any kind of a large rescue effort...
Local municipalities are ON THERE OWN for the first 48+ hours..
They taught us that 20 YEARS ago, when I was a CD volunteer. The idea of community self -elp and self-reliance broke down when the first looter looked at the cop and smiled, and he walked on
