As I remarked yesterday, strong grown men leaders cried at 9/11 disaster.
So it's okay if Blanco shed some tears too.
That's not how politics works. Maybe it should be, but it isn't. Especially on election day. Had Blanco done her job effectively, she could probably get away with tears on camera. But she hasn't, won't, and IMO future female gubneratorial candidates across the country will share the price she's going to pay. I predict right now that she won't get the Democratic nomination for governor next time (assuming that Louisiana law allows incumbent governors to win a second term - some states don't).
