The Trotskyite Guardian does not note that Tariq Ramadan is the grandson of Hassan al-Banna, founder of the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al Muslimeen). His father, Said Ramadan fled Egypt in 1954. Said was spiritual heir of the Muslim Brotherhood and the founder of the powerful Islamic Center of Geneva. Many analysts have noted the convergence of the Marxist left and the Islamist right; it is not surprising because both are pernicious fascist-minded entities. Thus, in the larger scheme of things Tariq Ramadan fits right in.
