By the bye, cell phones don't work without towers - in the areas in question the towers are gone. The news reports from the impact area are from video phones (read satellite).

Then why did MFH just relate that his friend was using his work cell phone to report this? ("For those wondering...he was keeping his work/emergency cell phone charged in their ambulance...")
I guess the cell towers are there and working for things we want to believe but not there for anything else.
