Get this.
If there are 1000s dead, the Mississippi Casino companies just petitioned to have the law changed where they can build on land; right now the law states they must be floating casinos. They received total destruction as the boats were smashed.
They could have floated up the Mississippi and out of harm's way as there was plenty of warning time, but decided to staty so the last $1.00 could be put in the slots.
Great timing on your request, casinio companies. At least wait till the dead are buried. Why didn't you float away! You are no different than the looters who stayed behind to steal and raise chaos.
Another note..........
When I see these levee breaks and water puring into New Orleans, all I can visualize are the hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars that have flowed to foreign nations.
We did not upgrade the levee system enough, but we sure can send hundreds of billions to various corrupt dictators and terrorist nations.
My tagline sums it up all nicely (although this has been going on since LBJ).
And where are the generous donations from those casinos that fleece these same poor people of billions of dollars. They're moaning and whining about losing $50 million A DAY! That's obscene! So where are their generous contributions of millions in aid? They can afford it. Boy! Can they ever.
If they don't come through bigtime, I'd never let them into the state again! But that's just me. I don't gamble...at least not at casinos. Can't think of anything more boring on a beautiful day, especially in sight of a beach and the water, than to be stuck in one of those garish temples to games of chance.

Somehow I doubt the Big, Evil Casinos forced people at gunpoint to stay on the Gulf Coast in their floating deathtrap. Also, if it were so easy for them to "float up" the Mississippi as you say, don't you think they would have opted for that rather than have thier entire casino destroyed? I doubt that last few dollars they made will cover the cost of building a new casino from scratch.

How many of those barges have motors?
