This is just practice for what is yet to come. The Earth's magnetic pole is shifting at an ever increasing rate. This means that a large amount of spinning metal in the Earth's core is precessing, wobbling, or whatever. There are going to be major earth changes within the next 10 years or so. It is time to check your kit and re-examine your escape routes.

[Off Topic rebuttal alert]
According to Glatzmaier, the ongoing 10% decline doesn't mean that a reversal is imminent. "The field is increasing or decreasing all the time," he says. "We know this from studies of the paleomagnetic record." Earth's present-day magnetic field is, in fact, much stronger than normal.

There are going to be major earth changes within the next 10 years or soOh, puhlease. There have been great changes in the last 10 years, and there were a lot of terrible changes in the past....not a very bold prediction on your part! LOL!
Don't forget, the Mayans said the end of the 5th age would occur on Dec 24, 2012....so you've got some backers there, anyway!

Yeah, escape routes, that's it... I'll just get off the Earth and go somewhere else.

I've heard about the magnetic poles shifting occasionally over the many eons of Earth's existence.
Other than confusing migratory birds and homing pigeons, I don't know what effects this will cause, although I assume navigation aids will be affected.
Do you know of any specific effects of a shift of magnetic poles?
